Our journey began humbly in 1984 at a guardhouse in China, where Legend Holdings formed with an investment of just RMB 200,000 (US$ 25,000). In 1988, we opened for business in Hong Kong and, in 1996, became China’s largest PC company. We were renamed Lenovo in 2004 and the following year, we acquired the Personal Computer Division from IBM.

In July 2014, Motorola Mobility was acquired from Google, positioning Lenovo as the world’s #3 maker of smartphones. In the same year, we acquired the IBM x86 server business, instantly making us the #3 global provider of x86-based server hardware, software, and services.
